NIL,YEK,OLs, “Her Hope”: Sexual Abuse and Intervention Program

Nick Ruedy is one of the head counsellors of SAIP (Sexual Abuse and Intervention Program) at Hulitan Family and Community Services. He is a registered clinical counsellor through BCACC, a registered social worker and has a Masters in Counseling psychology. Gifted with the name of NIL,YEK,OLs, translated as “Her hope” in the SENĆOŦEN language, Nick shares what makes their program unique in addressing sexual abuse in our community. Speaking about both the challenges and successes, Nick offers prevention advice for caregivers.
